EACOP SUPPORTS NATIONAL ENVIRONMENT SUSTAINABILITY AWARDS 2026

EACOP proudly participated in the National Environment Sustainability Awards 2026, organized by the National Environment Management Authority (NEMA) on 19 June 2026 at Serena Hotel, Kampala.

Held under the theme “Innovation for Climate Resilience,” the event brought together leaders from government, academia, civil society, local governments, the private sector, and the media to celebrate outstanding contributions to environmental sustainability and climate action.

As a sponsor of the awards, EACOP reaffirmed its commitment to supporting initiatives that promote environmental stewardship, climate resilience, and sustainable development across Uganda.

The keynote address was delivered by Bank of Uganda Governor, Michael Atingi-Ego, who highlighted the need for increased investment to strengthen climate resilience across key sectors.

“Climate resilience requires investment at scale. In water systems, resilient infrastructure, clean energy, climate-smart agriculture, circular economy enterprises, and disaster preparedness,” he noted.

The Minister of Water and Environment, Hon. Kahinda Otafire who attended as the chief guest, emphasized the urgency of collective action in addressing climate change.

“Climate change is one of the greatest challenges of our time, and innovation remains critical in building resilience and safeguarding our natural resources for future generations. Wake up, history will be harsh on us if we don’t look after the environment and lead by example,” he said.

During the awards ceremony, EACOP presented the Climate Resilience Award to the Running Out of Trees (ROOTS) Campaign in recognition of its outstanding efforts in advancing community-driven climate action and environmental conservation.

The awards recognized excellence across a wide range of categories, including biodiversity conservation, climate change research and innovation, waste-to-resource initiatives, climate finance, pollution control technologies, green schools, climate-transformative leadership, fragile ecosystem conservation, and community-based climate resilience initiatives.

EACOP’s participation in the National Environment Sustainability Awards reflects the company’s continued commitment to promoting sustainable environmental practices and supporting innovative solutions that strengthen resilience to climate change. Through partnerships and collaboration with stakeholders, EACOP remains dedicated to contributing to a more sustainable future for Uganda and the East African region.
