EACOP HOST SUPPLIER DEVELOPMENT FORUM HIGHLIGHTING OPPORTUNITIES FOR TANZANIAN BUSINESSES

EACOP hosted a Supplier Development Forum (SDF) aimed at preparing qualified local companies for opportunities arising during the Operations and Commissioning Phase of the project. The forum brought together prospective suppliers and key industry stakeholders to provide visibility on upcoming contracting opportunities and to clarify the technical and commercial expectations required to participate successfully in this next stage of the pipeline’s lifecycle.

A total of 71 companies registered to participate in the forum, with 60 companies attending the session. The event was also attended by representatives from Tanzania Petroleum Development Corporation (TPDC) and Gasco, highlighting the collaborative effort among national energy stakeholders to support local business participation in the project’s operational phase.

As the project transitions from construction toward operations, EACOP emphasized the importance of strengthening local capacity and participation. The Supplier Development Forum served as a platform to align businesses with operational standards, procurement processes, and compliance requirements that will guide contractor engagement during this critical phase. By hosting the SDF, EACOP reaffirmed its commitment to local content development and sustainable economic inclusion within the region.

A significant portion of the discussions focused on logistics and transportation services, which will play a central role in sustaining pipeline and facility operations. Companies were briefed on anticipated needs related to transportation, materials handling, fleet support, warehousing, and integrated logistics solutions that will ensure efficient movement of equipment, personnel, and operational materials.

Maintenance and inspection services were also highlighted as key pillars of the Operations Phase. EACOP outlined the requirement for preventive and corrective maintenance services covering mechanical equipment, electrical systems, HVAC, and instrumentation. Calibration services, inspection activities, and the supply of spare parts and equipment will be essential to maintaining asset integrity, operational safety, and long-term reliability of the pipeline infrastructure.

Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) services were presented as a cornerstone of safe operations. During the forum, EACOP underscored the need for safety supervision, safety equipment supply and maintenance, environmental monitoring, and waste management services. Companies operating in this space were encouraged to align with internationally recognized safety and environmental standards to support safe and responsible pipeline operations.

The forum also addressed operations and operations support services, including the provision of technical support, tools, consumables, and specialized items required to ensure continuous and efficient crude oil transportation. These services will contribute directly to maintaining performance, reliability, and safety across the pipeline system.

In addition, EACOP outlined opportunities within general and professional services that will support day-to-day operational activities. Civil works, real estate and accommodation services, warehousing, office consumables, utilities supply, and other professional services will form an essential support structure for the project’s operational footprint.

As commissioning activities approach, EACOP detailed the need for commissioning support services, including the supply of tools and consumables, temporary equipment provision, and calibration services required to facilitate safe and efficient start-up processes. By hosting today’s Supplier Development Forum, EACOP has provided local companies with valuable insight into upcoming tenders and engagement processes. The strong turnout from registered companies, alongside the participation of TPDC and Gasco, reflects growing industry readiness to support the Operations and Commissioning Phase of one of the region’s most significant infrastructure projects.
