EACOP RECOGNISED BY ROTARY UGANDA AS A KEY PARTNER DRIVING COMMUNITY TRANSFORMATION

EACOP was recognised by Rotary Uganda as one of the key partners driving the transformation of communities along the pipeline corridor. The recognition is as a result of EACOP’s impactful collaboration with Rotary through the Green Schools Initiative, a flagship programme under EACOP’s Social and Economic Investment Programme that is turning schools into models of sustainability, environmental stewardship, and improved learning environments.

This partnership, formalised through a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed in August 2025 between EACOP Ltd. and Rotary Uganda (Districts 9213 and 9214), has already delivered tangible results. The initiative was officially launched in November 2025 at St. Kizito Primary School in Kasasa Sub-County, Kyotera District, with follow-up activities continuing across the corridor.

The EACOP Green Schools Initiative targets ten districts along the pipeline route: Hoima, Kikuube, Kakumiro, Mubende, Kyankwanzi, Lwengo, Kyotera, Rakai, Sembabule, and Gomba. It equips pupils, teachers, and surrounding communities with practical skills in environmental responsibility while addressing immediate needs in education and health. Key interventions include:

  • Installation of solar energy systems for clean, reliable power
  • Development of fruit and vegetable gardens to promote nutrition, agriculture skills, and food security
  • Proper waste management and recycling systems
  • Construction of sanitation and handwashing facilities
  • Rainwater harvesting infrastructure for water access and conservation
  • Comprehensive awareness programmes on environmental protection, health, sanitation, and safety
