EACOP has been honoured with the CSR Programme of the Year (Licensee Category) award at the 6th PAU National Content Awards 2025, a recognition of the project’s strong social performance and its commitment to delivering long-term value for communities in Uganda and Tanzania.
The award was presented during the 6th Annual National Content Conference, held under the theme “Beyond the Drill: Cultivating a Legacy of Empowered Nationals and Enterprises in Uganda’s Oil Age.” This acknowledgment reflects EACOP’s continuous investment in people, community development, and regional partnerships that uplift local capacities as the project advances.
During the conference, our Deputy Managing Director, John Bosco Habumugisha, participated in the panel session “Uganda’s Oil and Gas Sector: Progress, Potential, and Pathways for National Participation.” He presented an update on the project’s advancement, confirming that overall progress has now reached 74%, marking a significant step toward project completion.
The conference also attracted key national stakeholders, including Dr. Michael Atingi-Ego, Governor of the Bank of Uganda; Hon. Sidronius Okaasai Opolot, Minister of State for Energy; and Ernest Rubondo, Executive Director of the Petroleum Authority of Uganda. The delegation visited the EACOP booth to engage with the team and review ongoing national content and capacity-building initiatives.
EACOP’s National Content Manager, Merian Ahabwe, contributed to a high-level discussion during Panel Session 2: Harnessing Regional Synergies for National Content Growth. She highlighted the project’s commitments to maximizing participation of Ugandan and Tanzanian companies, building supplier capacity, and promoting regional collaboration to strengthen East Africa’s emerging oil and gas supply chain.
To date, thousands of Ugandans have benefited from EACOP’s training programmes, gaining skills that will support long-term employment and regional competitiveness.
This award shows EACOP’s dedication to responsible development, shared prosperity, and meaningful community impact as the pipeline nears completion.
