EAST AFRICAN CRUDE OIL PIPELINE (EACOP) Ltd. LAUNCHES THE EACOP ACADEMY IN TANZANIA
The East African Crude Oil Pipeline (EACOP) project is proud to announce the official inauguration of the EACOP Academy on 18th September 2024 at Mt. Meru Hotel in Arusha City. This significant milestone highlights EACOP’s unwavering commitment to enhancing local content and nurturing talent in Tanzania and Uganda.
The creation of the EACOP Academy has been made possible through the success of the EACOP Massive Open Online Course (MOOC) and the signing of Memorandum of Understanding (MOUs) with Arusha Technical College (ATC), Vocational Education and Training Authority (VETA) Moshi, and Uganda Petroleum Institute Kigumba (UPIK). These partnerships reflect EACOP’s dedication to providing world-class training and development opportunities in the oil and gas sector, with a particular focus on empowering youth in regions adjacent to the pipeline’s construction and operational areas.
A total of 143 trainees have been selected through a thorough and fair process from the EACOP MOOC. These individuals are now being prepared to take on essential roles within the EACOP Field Operations Team, armed with the skills and knowledge necessary to contribute effectively to the project’s success.
“The EACOP Academy represents our commitment to creating sustainable, long-term benefits for the communities in Tanzania and Uganda,” Martin Tiffen, Managing Director of EACOP.” By equipping local talent with the necessary skills and knowledge, we are investing in the future of these countries and ensuring that the benefits of this project are shared widely.”
Herman Vossen, Operations Director of EACOP, added, “The launch of the EACOP Academy is a testament to our dedication to safety, excellence, and local empowerment. These trainees will play a crucial role in the operation and maintenance of the pipeline, and we are confident in their ability to uphold the highest standards in the industry.”
Laurent Stephane, EACOP Academy Manager, highlighted the importance of this initiative, stating, “Through the EACOP Academy, we are not just training individuals; we are building a foundation for the future workforce in Tanzania and Uganda. The skills and expertise these trainees acquire will enable them to thrive in the oil and gas sector and beyond, contributing to sustainable development in their countries.”
EACOP continues to prioritize the development of local talent and is dedicated to fostering economic growth and sustainability in the region. The launch of the EACOP Academy is a crucial step in ensuring that the benefits of the oil and gas sector are shared widely, particularly among the youth who represent the future of these nations.
