Dar es Salaam, Tanzania – 6 August 2025 – The East African Crude Oil Pipeline (EACOP) project has reaffirmed its commitment to community health and sustainable development with a TZS 100 million donation to the Jakaya Kikwete Cardiac Institute (JKCI).
The contribution, aligned with EACOP’s Sustainability Policy, will fund lifesaving treatments for children with cardiovascular conditions, particularly those from communities along the EACOP corridor and other regions in Tanzania.
The initiative is expected to support treatment for 25 to 30 children, depending on the complexity of their medical cases.
EACOP’s Sustainability Policy is anchored on five thematic pillars that guide its social and environmental investments. Under the Community Health and Safety pillar, this donation reflects the company’s commitment to improving access to specialized healthcare services for children from eight regions impacted by the project.
“This initiative reflects EACOP’s commitment to creating lasting value for the communities in which we operate,” said Mr. Geofrey Mponda, Acting General Manager of EACOP Tanzania. “By supporting life‑saving cardiac treatment for children, we are investing in the future and contributing to inclusive, longterm development.”
Receiving the donation, Dr. Peter Kisenge, Executive Director of JKCI, expressed his appreciation:
“This generous contribution from EACOP will directly impact the lives of children in need of urgent cardiac care,” he said. “It not only supports JKCI’s mission of saving lives but also demonstrates how public‑private partnerships can strengthen Tanzania’s healthcare system.”
Through such partnerships, EACOP continues to support Tanzania’s national development priorities, with a particular focus on Community Health and Safety, Youth Opportunities, Water Solutions, Sustainable Energy and Environment.
