EACOP EMPOWERS 456 YOUTH FROM PROJECT-AFFECTED HOUSEHOLDS WITH VOCATIONAL SKILLS

On 12th & 13th August 2025, EACOP successfully facilitated vocational skills training for 456 youth from project-affected households in Gomba, Kyotera, Lwengo, Rakai, and Sembabule districts. This initiative, under the company’s Resettlement Action Plan (RAP), is aimed at equipping young people with the skills and tools necessary to secure employment or start their own businesses, thereby enhancing household resilience following displacement.

Of the 456 trainees, 217 were female students, demonstrating EACOP’s commitment to gender inclusion. Training was delivered through three partner institutions: Mummy’s Institute of Beauty and Commercial Studies, St. Charles Lwanga Technical Institute Butende, and Masaka Vocational Training Institute.

The trainees completed three months of vocational learning followed by one month of internship, acquiring practical skills in:

  • Motor Vehicle Mechanics
  • Welding & Metal Fabrication
  • Motorcycle Mechanics
  • Electrical Installation
  • Hairdressing
  • Plumbing
  • Carpentry
  • Cosmetology
  • Building & Construction

To kickstart their careers, each youth will receive a starter kit relevant to their chosen trade.

This latest graduation brings the total number of youth trained from project-affected households along the entire pipeline route to 1,476.
