EACOP DELIVERS ENTERPRISE DEVELOPMENT TRAINING TO OVER 500 PROJECT-AFFECTED HOUSEHOLDS

As part of its commitment to restoring and improving the livelihoods of Project-Affected Households (PAHs), the East African Crude Oil Pipeline (EACOP) Ltd has successfully rolled out Enterprise Development training across five districts in Uganda—Hoima, Kakumiro, Kyankwanzi, Kikuube, and Mubende.

Over 30th and 31st July 2025, the latest training sessions were conducted in Kakumiro and Mubende Districts, bringing the total number of trained households to 527, including 243 women. This program, implemented under the Resettlement Action Plan (RAP), focuses on equipping PAHs with practical skills for income generation, resilience, and self-sufficiency.

Participants were trained in a wide range of trades including animal feed production, yogurt making, shoemaking, basketry, beading, soap making (both liquid and bar), baking, and small business management. Some participants also received support to upgrade existing vocational skills. The program’s hands-on approach involves training with master craftsmen and artisans to ensure practical learning and long-term viability.

To support the trainees in launching their businesses or employment journeys, EACOP is also providing starter kits aligned with the specific skills acquired. The initiative is supported by EACOP’s RAP Implementation Partner, Montrose Africa Ltd, who provided the training fees, materials, welfare support, and kits.

This enterprise development initiative is part of EACOP’s broader livelihood restoration strategy aimed at enabling households to recover economically from displacement while fostering local economic empowerment and resilience.
